Where it comes from

    On the fertile alluvial plains of the Ganga, Hasayan’s warm seasons nurture the fragrant Damask rose.

  • Deg bhapka

    The roses are distilled slowly in copper degs, the way it has been done for generations.

From rose to mist

  1. The deg. Fresh Damask roses from Hasayan go into a copper deg with water.
  2. Slow heat. The deg is heated at a controlled pace, so the rose’s delicate scent survives.
  3. The chonga. The rose-scented steam travels through a bamboo pipe, the chonga.
  4. The bhapka. In the bhapka, a receiving vessel resting in cool water, the steam turns back into rose water.

How to use

Close your eyes and mist evenly over your face and body, as often as you like. Let it absorb naturally.

Rosa Damascena Flower Water (98%), Preservation system (Citric Acid, Sodium Benzoate, Potassium Sorbate) (2%).

Storage and shelf life

Keep away from sunlight, in a cool, dry place. For best results, keep it refrigerated.

Use within 9 months of manufacture, and within 3 months of opening.

Questions

Is it edible?

No. Rose Tonic Mist is made for your skin only: it is labelled for external use, and it contains a preservation system for safety and stability. Please don’t drink it or cook with it.

How many times a day can I use it?

As often as you like. Mist it after cleansing, before your moisturiser, or whenever your skin feels dry or tired. Close your eyes while you spray.

Can I use it on my 2-year-old baby’s face?

Please ask your paediatrician first. A young child’s skin is more delicate than an adult’s, and the mist contains preservatives. If your doctor agrees, try it on a small patch of skin first and keep it away from the eyes.

Should I keep it refrigerated?

You don’t have to, but the label recommends it for best results. Always keep it away from sunlight, in a cool, dry place. A chilled mist also feels lovely on a hot day.

Why an amber bottle?

Light can break down the delicate aroma compounds in rose water. The amber bottle filters out much of that light, so the mist keeps its scent and freshness for longer.

Why does it last 9 months, and only 3 months once opened?

The mist is 98% rose water, with a 2% preservation system. Sealed, it stays fresh for 9 months from manufacture. Each time you use it a little air gets in, so finish it within 3 months of opening, while its scent is at its best.
